AFTER WEEKEND WINS ELMIRA BULLDOGS SIT IN TIE FOR FIRST PLACE IN EMPIRE DIVISION!!!! |
'MUCH TO THE DISMAY OF THE CORNING LEADERS SHAWN VARGO THE HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL ELMIRA BULLDOGS ARE STILL HERE'

The Elmira Bulldogs (7-1) are now tied for first place in the EBA Northern Conference Empire Division with the New York Wizards (7-1). The winner of the division will clinch the right to host a home 1st round playoff game on March 20 with the winner advancing to the EBA Final 4 in Harrisburg, PA on March 27 and 28.
The Elmira Bulldogs defeated the New York Wizards 105-103 on Saturday Feb 13 to move back into a first place tie with the Wizards. The previous night Feb 12 the Elmira Bulldogs defeated the Garden State Rebels 100-99. Both games were played at First Arena in Elmira, NY and featured close to 350 fans each, which were both single game season highs for the Elmira Bulldogs. NBA legend Dennis Rodman made his professional coaching debut in both of these games on a 2-game head coaching contract.
The Elmira Bulldogs have 3 regular season games remaining before the playoffs begin (all road games) with the Washington Madness on Feb 27, the Hudson Valley Hype on March 6 and the Garden State Rebels on March 14.
The EBA has re-scheduled the 2010 EBA all-star game originally scheduled for February 20 in Washington D.C. to April 3 in Washington D.C. Elmira Bulldogs head coach James R. Schutz has been selected as the head coach of the Empire and Capital divisions while Elmira Bulldogs starting power forward Kirk Stewart has been selected to represent the Elmira Bulldogs and play for coach Schutz at the all-star game.
The Elmira Bulldogs have a overall franchise record of 29-7 and have been one of the most successful minor league sports franchises in the world. The Elmira Bulldogs have competed in the league championship game each year of there existence (2008 National Professional Basketball League Championship Game, 2009 Eastern Basketball Alliance Championship game) and are poised for a chance to do it again in 2010 with a current record of (7-1) good for a 1st place tie in the division.
The Corning Leader's sports editor Shawn Vargo decided to take out/write a personal attack add/article aside from Saturday nights game article directed at Elmira Bulldogs head coach and general manager James R. Schutz following Saturday nights dramatic win over the previously unbeaten New York Wizards. "I'm not sure what Vargo's issue is, his paper has rarely ever sent anyone to cover our games. They bury are game articles and we have to basically write those articles for him and hire someone to take and send him the pictures", stated Bulldogs head coach and general manager James R. Schutz. "I have a lot of respect for the media in the area such as Brian Fees from the Towanda Daily Review, Joe Mink from the Star Gazette, Emerson Lotzia and Steve Vesey from WETM, Toby Motyka from WENY and many others. They stick to the facts and report the games. I have no interest in getting into a name calling war or anything of that matter with Shawn Vargo, I graduated from 8th grade. I do think it's pretty funny though that his personal attack add ran totally separate from the game article, I didn't know I was that popular".
