ELMIRA BULLDOGS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE THE NPBL!! ELMIRA WIN'S 5TH STRAIGHT GAME 139-128 VS MARYLAND!
k_ross_01.jpgWhen the Elmira Bulldogs started the season 0-3,  James R. Schutz, the team's GM & Head Coach, decided that roster changes were needed.  From that moment on, the Bulldogs have yet to lose a contest.   With five wins in a row, the new Bulldogs roster has rebounded to defeat all three teams who had beaten them with old Bthat they had previously lost to.  The "new Bulldogs" hope to continue their roll through any team that get's in their way.

Against their most recent opponent, the confident Maryland Bayraiders, the Bulldogs were missing David Ruffin, the league’s leading scorer.  Recovering from a knee injury suffered the previous night against Hudson Valley, Ruffin was on the bench in street clothes icing his knee.
Without their leading scorer, the Bulldogs managed to jumped out to an early lead and held a double digit lead throughout the 1st quarter.  The Bayraiders made things interesting in the 2nd quarter by taking the halftime lead.  But that lead was short-lived, as the second half of was dominated by the Bulldogs!!

The Bulldogs were led by a well rounded team effort including former Mansfield University star player Kevin Hill, who finished the game with 26 points including six  3-pointer's.  Kevin Ross, the big man out of Cleveland State University scored 28 points and hauled in 16 rebounds on the afternoon. Darwin Young also scored 28 points with six 3-pointers.  Lester McNair finished with 23 points and eight assists. Marlin Johnson filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds while Mackenzie "Big Mack" Clark rounded out the double-figure scoring with 10 points. The other Bulldogs to score were Demontric Doddles, who finished with nine lester_02.jpgpoints, and Justin Cichon chipped in with four.

"With the back to back wins this weekend it has been the best birthday weekend since I went to France when I was 16 years old," said co-owner Charles Berch.

The players, coaches and staff would again like to wish Mr. Berch a happy birthday!

The North Division first place Elmira Bulldogs (5-3) will be back in action at home on Sunday, April 27th when the South Division Alexandria Avengers (3-1) come to Elmira. The afternoon tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm from the Chemung County YMCA.
