'SIX BULLDOGS SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES, FIVE BULLDOGS POST DOUBLE DOUBLES'
The Elmira Bulldogs (3-0) continued the team's winning ways on Saturday night with a 118-112 win over the Newark Patrons (0-4). The Elmira Bulldogs were playing without three of the team's top players due to transportation issues. Among the absent Bulldogs players was team's leading scorer and assist man Haron Hargrave. The Elmira Bulldogs with just 8 players in uniform gritted out the huge win.

The Elmira Bulldogs (3-0) team was led by Elmira, NY native Eric Bresett who scored a team high 28 points while hauling in 13 rebounds as the Newark Patrons had no answer for the 6'8", 260 pound Elmira Bulldogs center. The Bulldogs other top perfromers included Kenny Gethers with 23 points and 12 rebounds, Cameron Arterberry with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Kirk Stewart with 20 points and 13 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Brian Jackson played a nearly flawless game at point guard for the Elmira Bulldogs scoring 11 points while dishing off a game high 11 assists to go along with 7 rebounds, 3 steals and even had a blocked shot on the evening. The Bulldogs double digit scoring was rounded out by Phil Valenti who played a solid all-around game with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Mindaugus Boruta and Denny Mortimer also played a huge part in the win as Boruta finished with 6 rebounds and Mortimer finished with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal, both Boruta and Mortimer scored 1 point each.
The Newark Patrons (0-4) team was led by Rashaun Wilson who scored a game high 30 points in the defeat.
The Elmira Bulldogs (3-0) now have an overall franchise record of 25-6 and have won 22 of the teams last 25 games played. The Elmira Bulldogs have made it to the league title game every year in the franchise's existence (2008 NPBL title game) and (2009 EBA title game).
The Elmira Bulldogs (3-0) return to action on Saturday, January 23, 2010 to square off against the Hudson Valley Hype (0-1). The Bulldogs defeated the Hype 140-103 in the season opener on December 12, 2009. The rematch game will take place this Saturday at South Side High School in Elmira, NY with a 7:00pm tip-off.

The Elmira Bulldogs (2-0) who sit at the top of the Northern Conference Empire Division tied for 1st place with the New York Wizards (2-0) will face off this Saturday January 16, 2010 against the Newark Patrons (0-3) who are from the Northern Conference Mid Atlantic Division.
The Elmira Bulldogs (2-0) team is led by former NCAA D-1 Sacramento State University star player Haron Hargrave (pictured below) who averages 21.5 points per game and 9.0 assists per game. Other top player's for the Bulldogs include Kirk Stewart who averages 17.5 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game and 4.5 blocked shots per game. South Side High School grad Eric Bresett is also off to a hot start averaging 16.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per contest.
The Newark Patrons (0-3) team is led by Jamal Lovell who averages 23.7 points per game and Dave Raiford who averages 19.3 points per contest.
"This game is going to be much closer then people might think who just look at each teams overall record", stated bulldogs head coach James R. Schutz. "In the Newark Patrons last game they blew a 19 point 3rd quarter lead on the New York Wizards (2-0) who are tied for 1st place in the division with us".
The Elmira Bulldogs (2-0) now have an overall franchise record of 24-6 and have won 21 of the team's last 24 games played. The majority of the wins coming by a margin of 20 points or more. 'Eric Bresett, Haron Hargrave and Kirk Stewart lead the charge for the Bulldogs'
The Elmira Bulldogs (2-0) jumped out early on the visiting Connecticut Stallions (1-1) taking a 13 point lead late in the first quarter. However, the Stallions showed no quit in them as they stormed back in the second quarter to take a 47-45 lead over the Bulldogs into the locker room at the half.
After some serious half time adjustments by bulldogs head coach James R. Schutz and bulldogs assistant coach Dennis Lee the bulldogs came out of the locker room on fire and took the lead back and never let the Stallions regain the lead. "It was a situation where we had a clear advantage on the inside as the Stallions big men could not stop Stewart, Bresett or Lawley", stated bulldogs head coach James R. Schutz. "We came out of the locker room with a clear goal and that goal was to beat them up inside and that was exactly what we did. Bresett and Stewart were scoring at will and rebounding with a passion tonight".
The Elmira Bulldogs (2-0) were led by former NCAA D-1 Sacramento State University star Haron Hargrave who scored 18 points while dishing off a game high 8 assists. Kirk Stewart and Eric Bresett also joined Hargrave with 18 points scored and the Stewart/Bresett big man combo was unstoppable all around as Stewart hauled in 14 rebounds to go with his 18 points while also blocking 6 shots, Bresett also recorded a double double with 10 rebounds to go along with his 18 points. The other Elmira Bulldogs double digit scorers were Kenny Gethers with 12 points and Aubin Scott and Brandon Lawley each with 10 points. The Bulldogs scoring was rounded out by Brian Jackson with 6 points, Phil Valenti with 3 points and Mindaugus Boruta with 1 point scored.
The Connecticut Stallions (1-1) were led by former Elmira Bulldogs star Telron Spell who finished the evening with a game high 19 points scored.

'FORMER ELMIRA BULLDOGS STAR PLAYER TELRON SPELL NOW PLAYS FOR HIS HOMETOWN CONNECTICUT STALLIONS'
On Saturday January 9, 2010 the two top teams in the Eastern Basketball Alliances Empire Division will face off. The Elmira Bulldogs (1-0) coming off a 140-103 win over the Hudson Valley Hype will face off against the Connecticut Stallions (1-0) coming off a 131-121 win over the Newark Patrons.
The Elmira Bulldogs (1-0) team is led by two former NCAA D-1 basketball stars in Haron Hargrave (Sacramento State) and Aubin Scott (Long Island University). In the season opener Hargrave scored 25 points while dishing out 10 assists. Aubin Scott (2009 EBA MVP) scored 23 points in the season opener while dishing out 4 assists. Both player's played limited minutes in the season opening blowout win and are looking forward to playing big minutes on Saturday with huge results.

The Connecticut Stallions (1-0) team is led by a pair of former Elmira Bulldogs in Telron Spell and Henri Buford. Telron Spell averaged 22 points per game for the Elmira Bulldogs last season while Henri Buford averaged 15 points per contest last season. In the season opening win for the Connecticut Stallions Telron Spell scored 37 points while Buford chipped in 16 points.
"Spell is a great player whom we have great respect for", stated bulldogs head coach and general manager James R. Schutz. "He's the type of talent that you will never totally shut down so as a coach you just have to plan to slow him down".

FORMER NBA GREAT DENNIS RODMAN TO COACH BULLDOGS
ELMIRA, NY ~ The
First Arena is pleased to announce that the First Arena will be home to
the Elmira Bulldogs of the Eastern Basketball Alliance (EBA) for two
games during the 2010 EBA season. The Bulldogs will be playing the Garden City Rebels on Friday, February 12th & the New York Wizards on Saturday, February 13th, 2010. Both contests will also mark the coaching debut of former NBA great Dennis Rodman. Rodman
will be guiding the Bulldogs for both nights while Head Coach &
General Manager James R. Schutz takes the “night off”.
The
ever-colorful, flappable Rodman, also known as “The Worm” played for
the Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles
Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. He was known during his NBA career for his fierce defensive and rebounding abilities. Rodman
played the forward position in the NBA while earning NBA All-Defensive
Team honors seven times and was voted NBA Defensive Player of the Year
twice. He also led the NBA in rebounds for a record seven consecutive years and won five NBA Championships.
“I am honored to be able to give my childhood hero Dennis Rodman my head coaching position for two games,” stated Schutz. With a grin, the Bulldogs coach added, “He has a lot more rings then I have. Five more, to be exact.”
Rodman’s
agent Darren Prince, CEO of Prince Marketing Group, said that his
client is looking forward to coaching the Bulldogs to victory in
February. Rodman quoted, “I wanted the
opportunity to be a coach and now that the Elmira Bulldogs have given
me that chance I plan on showing them they made a very smart decision. I know a lot of teams will be interested in Coach Rodman when the weekend is over.”

“I think it is great for Elmira and the First Arena to have Dennis Rodman come to our area,” said First Arena General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. “There are not a lot of men that have won five NBA Championships. I am sure Rodman will be a treat to watch.” Nichols finalized the proceedings with a smile on his face, “Get your tickets early!”
